“Angi was a brilliant hypnobirthing practitioner

for my second birth. She provided a completely personalized experience in the comfort of our own home. I am due any day now and I feel completely relaxed and excited about my upcoming birth. I feel like the hypnobirthing course with Angi has given me the tools to feel empowered and informed throughout my birth to make the most appropriate choices throughout labour. I would definitely be recommending Angi and Hypnobirthing to any of my friends having babies in the future.”

-Ema Finn (10 weeks before birth)

“Angi, thanks so much! The hypnobirthing helped immensely

especially at home. Once we got to the hospital, the hypnosis tracks, massage you taught us and tens machine made a big difference.

I loved my birth experience, which was so different this time around. I didn’t feel any pain, only pressure and before we knew it, our baby boy was born. Everything happened so quickly and smoothly. We are in love.”

-Ema Finn (10 hours after birth of baby Lucas)

Frequently Asked Questions

What will I learn in your Hypnobirthing Workshop?

Everything you need to know to achieve a safer, easier and more comfortable birth. Eleven tools to put into your ‘Birth-kit for a joyful birth. How to work with the intensity of birth so you feel powerful instead of powerless. Techniques of deep relaxation to help you eliminate the Fear-Tension-Pain Syndrome. How your body is naturally designed to birth your baby with ease and comfort and what to do if nature has plan B so you feel prepared in any circumstance. Natural ways to bring your body into labour. How you and your birthing companion can create a birthing environment that feels calm and peaceful rather than tense and stressful. Gentle birthing techniques that allow you to bring your baby into the world. How to use your natural birthing instincts to birth your baby in a way that feels right for you and your body.

What is hypnobirthing?

Hypnobirthing is a childbirth method that focuses on preparing parents for a gentle birth. In my workshop you will learn proven techniques in a well-thought-out program of deep relaxation, visualisation, and self-hypnosis. All of these are designed to help you achieve a more comfortable birth. Hypnobirthing encourages a calm and peaceful pregnancy, birth and bonding experience with your baby.

How does your Hypnobirthing Workshop differ from other childbirth classes?

Here is the thing, Mama. There are literally thousands of birth courses out there. As a professionally trained hypnotherapist, I have spent countless hours studying, consulting and preparing Mamas all over Melbourne for a joyful birth regardless of how her baby comes into the world. I am also a certified Hynobirthing Practitioner for Caesarean Births because I saw a big gap in our birth education with many mamas missing out on a calm birth experience or being made feel like a failure if they need a surgical birth. I believe no mama should be left behind.

So my tip is to go with someone credible whose work resonates with you. Also someone who holds unbiased opinions about birth and how it ‘should’ unfold so you can be prepared in any circumstance and feel joyful about your birth story when you’re celebrating your baby’s first Birthday :)

When is the best time to attend your Workshop?

The optimal time to book into the Workshop is anytime after your 20th week of pregnancy.

Should I still attend hospital classes?

Totally up to you :) My Hypnobirthing Workshop is a very comprehensive course. Hospital antenatal courses cover a lot of information about interventions and procedures during birth and have a more ‘medical’ feel to them. My Mamas refer to my Hypnobirthing Workshop as ‘an experience’ - it’s something you look back on with fond memories. Together we will learn all about the birth process, what to expect during pregnancy and the onset of labour, how to release any fears associated with birthing and we learn techniques (relaxation, breathing, visualisations and deepening) to use during labour.

Who do I bring to the Workshop?

Bring yourself and your birth companion. Your birth companion can be your partner, doula, sister, friend, mother – whoever you feel will best support you throughout your pregnancy and birth. You are also welcome to come solo if you prefer.

How is the Birth Companion involved?

The Birth Companion plays an integral part of your hypnobirthing experience. They help you prepare during birth for a deep relaxation. I teach them how to guide you through hypnosis prompts, relaxation techniques, deepening methods and visualizations and be of comfort to you during labour.

Will I be unconscious or will I remember my birth experience?

Despite misconceptions about hypnobirthing, you are definitely not unconscious during self-hypnosis. The Hypnobirthing mother is deeply relaxed but she is also an active participant in the labour process. She is completely aware and may return to a conversant state whenever she wants. Hypnobirthing mothers often find that they experience time distortion and are not distracted by other people or their birthing environment while they focus on the birth of their baby. It’s incredible!

Will Hypnobirthing be useful to me if I don’t opt for a natural childbirth or if circumstances necessitate medical intervention or a surgical birth?

Absolutely. The things you will learn in the Workshop will help you learn relaxation skills that will be useful to both you and your baby regardless of how your birth unfolds. In the event that medical intervention of any sort is needed, you will find yourself be able to remain calm and in control. Mamas who have needed scheduled or emergency caesareans for medical reasons report that they were able to relax before, during and after the procedure.

Can Hypnobirthing be beneficial to someone who has special circumstances, VBAC or who must have a C-section?

Hypnobirthing is very beneficial to Mums who have special circumstances. Many obstetricians, midwives and doctors are now requesting that mothers take a Hypnobirthing Course or similar before VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean).

Is it true that I will experience a pain-free birth with Hypnobirthing?

Hypnobirthing does not promise painless birthing though many Hypnobirthing mothers report having a birth they were able to manage much more comfortably with the practical tools at hand. When a birthing mama is relaxed, she will produce more endorphins - nature’s own relaxants. Hypnobirthing mothers may still experience sensations of tightening or pressure, but most describe their birth experience as working with their body through the sensations - something to be marveled at rather than feared.

What if my doctor/midwife is not familiar with Hypnobirthing? Can I still use this method and how can my healthcare providers help me to achieve my Hypnobirthing goals?

There are more care providers now becoming aware of the benefits of Hypnobirthing. If your caregiver is not knowledgeable about Hypnobirthing, take the opportunity in your pregnancy to discuss the techniques you will be using and the type of calm birthing environment that you desire. In class you will learn how to create your Birth Preferences, which will help you to communicate your birthing goals and desires to your doctor or midwife.
