Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy refers to being guided into a relaxed state of focused attention by a professionally trained therapist during which beneficial suggestions and metaphors are made as a catalyst for profound change. While the brain is in a deeply relaxed state, it is more likely to absorb, integrate and act on the therapeutic messages aligned with your goals.

How does hypnotherapy feel?

During a hypnotherapy session, you won’t cluck like a chicken or embarrass yourself at a ‘hypnosis’ stage show. You gain a sense of control by working with your subconscious mind helping you release past emotions so you can move forward. The experience of hypnotherapy is a pleasant and relaxing feeling similar to that of daydreaming. It can be compared to being absorbed by a good book or your favorite movie, driving down a familiar route, going for a walk or run, losing track of time.

What can I expect from at the first appointment?

We will get to you each other and discuss what you are wanting to work on and achieve. I will map out the best course of action for you and always include a therapeutic hypnosis for the concern you are wanting treated.

Can I lose control?

No. You are always in control throughout your hypnosis experience. You'll have full control of yourself and be able to make decisions at all times. I cannot suggest anything against your values and I cannot take away your free will.

What if I can't be hypnotised?

Your amazing brain accesses a hypnotic state throughout the 24 hour cycle (usually upon waking up and before you fall asleep), so naturally you are already good at it without realizing.

Can I be stuck in hypnosis?

No. As you are always in control, you will always come out of hypnosis feeling alert ready to get on with your day.

Are you registered?

I am an accredited hypnotherapist with Australia’s Peak Body Hypnotherapy Council Australia (HCA). I also hold Clinical Membership with Guild of Australian Hypnotherapists and invest in Continuing Professional Development and further education that exceed the requirements of my registration.

How many sessions will I need?

Hypnotherapy is an effective modality where you can start to see positive changes quickly. Every client is different and at the end of the first consultation, I will design a treatment plan for you that is realistic and safe.

What is the cost?

$230 per session*. Credit card payment facility is available at the end of the consultation.

*I donate 10% of profits to struggling women. Some of the women we have been able to help are a mature aged woman with her legal costs so she can live in a safe environment; Cover some of the medical costs of a young woman with debilitating Crohn’s disease; Support GoFundMe of a single woman going through breast cancer who is currently unable to work. If there is a Cause close to your heart, please let me know during our consultation.

Can I get a rebate?

Rebates may be available from some private health insurers if you hold ancillary cover. Clinical hypnotherapy does not fall under the AHPRA registration scheme, therefore there is no provider number listed on the receipt. Instead, at the end of each consultation I will send you a receipt that includes my GoAH clinical membership number so you can submit directly with your insurer who will then verify the therapist's membership status. The following health funds may provide rebates: HBF, CBH, HCF, HCI, Queensland Country Health Fund and St Lukes Health.

I am a provider of health and wellness services in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy.

When are your sessions?

I have found my clients get the most from their sessions when they’re not rushing from work exhausted or heading straight into evening commitments. I only offer three sessions per day to protect the quality and depth of each appointment. My clients appreciate that this focus allows them to experience deeply personal, high-quality hypnotherapy with transformative results and time to reflect afterwards. The hypnotherapy appointment turns out to be their favorite self-care day of the week.
